A mellow start to my day today. I’m waiting for the Gas engineer to arrive all geared up in his PPE sweating as it’s so bloomin hot already I’m not allowed within 2 meters of him, so that means I can’t be in my Workroom when he’s here . I get seriously excited when I start a new project. Sure I’ve seen the pattern on Ravelry and I know what it’s supposed to look like when it’s done. But those first few rows when you’re feeling out a project are so cool. You’re seeing your yarn knit up for the first time, trying to see if the project is suited for the colors you’ve picked it of the details get lost. You’re learning how the creator writes their pattern, seeing the stitches unfold. It is hazy, ambiguous and promising all at once. I’m very on and off with larger projects. I go through stages of not being motivated to knit large area of plain knit stitch. So I usually go off for a bit and rest with quicker projects, before continuing with the larger project. I like to put a little marker on a spot I start at at the start of each day so I can see how much I’ve knitted on that day, which also helps with motivation. I’m preparing to knit my first sweater! It’s going to be the beautiful Michala from @woolstock.dk. I am however not using the recommended yarn, but rather lots of different mohair yarn scraps and single skeins I’ve bought second hand and saved up for a big project.
